Intruder poll results

May 31st, 2008 at 6:23pm, EST, by Ridge Rogue

The intruders poll on this site has now closed and the results are just below. Not surprisingly, the public is in favour of sending in some fresh faces (almost 67% in our poll here). Going on Network Ten's promos, there is an assumption that the public will like the intruders. That just isn't the case because they are more of the same and comments on the official site's forum show that viewers don't like them before they even go in. It just shows how completely out of touch the producers are. The casting has been their worst failure this year. It really is quite annoying for us fans to see such s**t casting.

Renee wins FNL!

May 31st, 2008 at 6:23pm, EST, by Ridge Rogue

The theme for FNL was a day at the races one and Renee won. Here's a summary for those that missed the show. The HMs were all dressed in jockey's silks and kept hitting each other on the head at the start with their jockey whips. So, after Ollie (the dog) was temporarily taken by a BB ninja the HMs drew tickets from a bookie's bag held by a BB ninja. These tickets corresponded to the names of horses that the HMs were about watch in a race. If their horse won or was last, they'd be automatically put through to the third round. What a waste of time this was but Terri and Renee got their place in round three.

Round 1: Soccer shootout

The rest of the HMs split into two teams. These were Dixie, Brigitte, Nobbi and Alice in one team and Bianca, Travis, Rory and Ben. You've seen this type of game before on FNL but it was slightly different this time. Each team had to not only defend their goal in a game of soccer with the other team but try and kick the most goals within three minutes. The catch is that the teams had to wear binoculars over their eyes (backwards). They couldn't see a thing. After much trying Dixie's team had 3 goals to 2.

Round 2: Photo finish

Nobbi, Renee and Alice raced on four-wheeled horses over two laps through steeples (with gaps) and fake horse manure. The order of the winners was Nobbi and Renee in first and second place respectively and Alice was out of the games for coming in third. Terri was dropped from the next round after Brigitte and Dixie won the next race. They then had to split into teams. These were Nobbie and Renee against Dixie and Brigitte.

Round 3: Stable hands

This round involved one person standing behind a wall next to horse manure and hay. That person had to shovel the horse manure over the wall and into the large, fake hands worn by the other person in the team who had to try to catch it all (while wearing giant shoes). This is similar to a game played in previous years. So, obviously they had to get as much as they could into their side of the scales in two minutes in order to win. So, Dixie and Brigitte went first. They were quite slow at it. Nobbi and Renee then competed. The result on the scales was that Nobbi and Renee won.

Round 4: Fashions on the field

In this round, Nobbi and Renee had to race against the 2.5 minute time limit to dress in as many clothes as possible. The winner would be the one whose clothes weighed the most. The two were weighed in their jockey silks to determine a starting weight. Nobbi weighed 80.35kg and Renee weighed 58.35kg. Going for the heaviest clothes was the key here and they were not allowed to carry any, they had to wear them. They wasted time putting on underwear until BB told them to move to the next pile of clothes (jackets and so on). BB then told them to move to the third pile. In the end, Nobbi weighed 87.40kg (a gain of 7.05kg) and Renee weighed 67.00kg (a gain of 8.65kg). Renee was the winner of FNL this week.

In the Diary Room, Renee chose to take Dixie to the Strategy Room because they're both from Dubbo. She was also told that the bottom three HMs in the voting were Bianca, Dixie and Travis. The HMs then went off to shower and have a little party to celebrate the birthdays of Rory and Alice. Happy Birthday to Rory and Alice for this weekend, by the way! Anyway, next week's FNL is a superhero theme, Mike indicated.

Meet the intruders!

May 29th, 2008 at 02:53am, EST, by Ridge Rogue

In the forum last week, I filled my readers in on the intruders a little bit. The OS has just this morning released their information. They're not what I wanted but here they are. There's a bit of information about them in the forum.

Dog house task and Big Mouth brief summary

May 27th, 2008 at 12:53am, EST, by Ridge Rogue

It's a little doggy

The daily show yesterday saw the doghouse task commence. Regular readers here will know from our World Speclusive pages in the archive that this is an adaptation of the carboard box task from BB UK. But here, the winner gets to look after an 11-month-old puppy. It has been one of the funnier tasks we've ever seen on BB so far. The rest of the task will draw in viewers because the puppy is cute and all. I assumed that, when BB announced that the prize will have effects outside the house, the dog is a guide dog that the winner will train. This is obviously a good task for once. I had a glance at the official site and it looks like it is a guide dog from what one page explained and Alice has won the task.

Big Bore ... er, I mean Big Mouth

Big Mouth saw Sara-Marie Fedele joining the panel and Tom Gleeson was back again this week. (You know your career as a comedian is in serious trouble when you are asked to come back to this show.) David and Nathan were grilled about the virginity and cult topics respectively. There was a bit of male nudity here and there (unfortunately - not what I want to see) and discussion topics about Travis's acting about not knowing about sex. Terri's outdated opinions also got a brief run. There was a short introduction for the hypnotist show later in the week and that show looks crap. Apart from that, there wasn't much else to talk about in this episode but there's a brief summary in case you missed it. It seems that the discussion about Travis being naive took up a lot of it and the rest was mostly filler.

Nathan and David evicted!

May 25th, 2008 at 9:40pm, EST, by Ridge Rogue

Here's a brief summary of tonight's eviction show. Kyle and Jackie O started out by mentioning Corey's troubles last week. Police were called to Corey's hotel and a day or two later he was arrested at a club. During a chat with the HMs that followed, the hosts then showed a mock up cover of Zoo with Terri on it. Terri was quite amused. Kyle then told Nathan that he is a dog for stringing Renee along.

BB then told the HMs that David, Nathan and Alice were in the bottom three. Thank God for that! Phew. I'm thrilled at this point that Bianca wasn't in the list. Alice soon saved herself from eviction. She wants to have her 25th birthday in the house and doesn't want to be evicted before then. The next person to fall into the bottom three was Rory. Big sigh of relief from me again.

The tedious voting process soon began. I hate this part. They should pre-record this to play later. Dixie was first up and BB had to tell her that "today would be good" because she took her time to come up with something. She voted for Nathan because he has a shiny bald head. She also voted for Rory because he showers naked, doesn't know about Rugby and so on. This is the level of the IQ we're dealing with here with this crap cast.

After the ad break, they used the LVA on Nathan. Regulars here might recall that I lead the way in exposing this crap in 2006 in my commentary on this site (I even used the actual software's screen caps to show the difference). But tonight, the work experience kids at BB used their version of the LVA (created in some rubbish software) and tried to paint Nathan out to be a crook leading Renee on. Last time the wankers used this LVA s**t, they defamed Michael (BB 6) twice on one night.

The hosts were soon joined by Jason and Matt, the SYTYCD judges. The HMs had passed the task that was judged by Jason and Matt. Jason's opinion about Brigitte setting women back years with her act is spot on. After a short chat with these guys, it was back to the voting from the HMs. While Renee was crying her eyes out because her three favourites (her bed buddies and Nathan) were up for eviction, BB prepared the HMs for the announcement of the first evictee.

The hosts asked Renee why she was crying and then Kyle revealed that they were taking a pesky ad break before revealing the first evictee. After that was over, it was Nathan that was evicted (while Renee cried more). He was on the stage instantly; no more mucking around as in previous years. He started straight out on Kyle who responded that he'd get to that later. They showed footage of Alice giving her 4 points to Nathan because he was less involved in house dynamics. Her two points went to David because she wanted to keep Rory there to celebrate his birthday in the house.

Then Kyle started quizzing Nathan on his virginity. They showed footage of him saying that when he was 17 he came close to having sex, and Kyle wanted an answer on why he didn't proceed. The response was the wait until marriage one. So he started on Kyle's opinion about him dogging Renee. Jackie explained to Nathan that the opinion was because he hung around Renee as if to lead her on, even though he wasn't interested in a relationship. It sent confusing signals to viewers and Renee, so they say.

After an ad break, Kyle announced that David was gone. He soon asked about why he didn't tell everyone straight away about the cult. David didn't want to play that card straight away. With a bit more of a chat out of the way, the show was over. They seem to be settling into a routine of presenting this show better now. Gone is the revolving door and we don't have to wait for the HM to get to the stage quickly. It's getting a bit better, except for the lengthy voting process (but I'm glad they record some of that in the ad breaks to spare us).

Alice wins FNL!

May 25th, 2008 at 5:04pm, EST, by Ridge Rogue

The theme for the fourth episode of FNL was a Scouts one (it's the International Year of the Scout). A lot of recycled games - or parts of them - were used in this episode. This recycling is becoming quite a regular pattern this year and it just shows laziness on the part of those responsible for organising each episode. This isn't a McFranchise of some sort (FNL, that is - BB itself obviously is) where you just follow the same old process week in and week out, but then again, that's what you do in a franchise (even though there are small marketing differences here and there). Viewers of FNL, though, expect something new and different every week or there's no point in watching the show until the last 15 minutes, or waiting until the highlights are shown on Sunday.

Round 1

Anyway, because they are the tallest competitors, Rory and Nathan were selected by BB to be team captains. They then each selected members of their team. These were: Rory, David, Alice, Dixie, Bianca, Terri in one team and Nathan, Ben, Renee, Brigitte, Travis in the other team. The first round required teams to build a bridge to the other side. One team had to yell out "dib" repeatedly while they used a plank of wood to cross rocks located in a crocodile infested river (all fake of course).

The other team had to repeatedly say "dob" during the race. They all sounded like pygmies when they actually did it. Every time they got to a rock, they all had to be on it before they could put their wooden plank down and walk to the next rock, Failure to do this meant returning to the previous rock. The fastest team would be the winner. As it turned out, it was a too close to call so the team captains rocked off to decide a winner. Obviously that's quite pathetic. Rory won the rock off.

Hanging tough

The next round was a recycled one from previous years that was used to get two HMs back in the games to even up the teams. All they had to do was hang from a bar until two were left. Mike used the excuse that they're using this game again because it provides an even playing field. I don't think so but whatever. Nobbie and Renee were the ones that hung in there the longest. Two teams were then formed and these were: Rory, Nobbi, Dixie and Bianca in one team and then David, Renee, Terri and Alice in the other one.

Round 2: The Scout headquarters of horror

Members of Rory's team were first to individually stick their head in a box full of bugs and fake snakes to earn one point each. Each chose a box and one at a time earned their point. The other team then came out of the holding area after the ad break and did so as well. It was a tie because they all earned a point each; none chickened out. In between each part of this round, Rebecca was on the show. She apologised to those that auditioned that really wanted to be there when she didn't.

She used the excuse that you don't realise how controlled it all is until you're in there (as if she wouldn't have worked that out before applying to be on the show in the first place). She also explained that the reason she called Bianca a "total cow" was because she had just found out that she said something behind her back and Rebecca was still annoyed when she said that. Anyway, the tie-breaker was a contest between Rory and Alice to eat a sugared snake quickly. Alice won

Round 3: Camp chaos (sounds like this site a bit)

The four remaining HMs split into two teams. David and Alice competed against Terri and Alice in a tent erecting contest. I noticed on Friday night that the official site's writers got quite excited about this 'erection' word and used it quite liberally when updating fans there. Anyway, this round might have seemed easy because all they had to do was erect a tent, but that was until the big fan from previous years was fired up just to make it harder.

David and Renee had 2.5 minutes to put up their tent in the prescribed manner. They failed. Then, Alice and Terri had their turn and also failed. The tie-breaker was a paper aeroplane throwing contest to see who could get their plane closest to the fan. David and Alice were given paper to make their planes. She smartly then threw hers along the floor while David screwed his up and rolled it. Obviously, BB decided that Alice won.

Round 4: What's in the box?

This was yet another ill-thought-out game that took far too long. Terri and Alice just had to ask BB questions to help determine what BB was hiding in the box in front of where they were both seated. The item was a hubcap from the Kombi that a BB ninja stole just minutes beforehand. BB had to give them several clues because Alice had no idea and Terri kept thinking it was something chrome in the kitchen. Eventually she guessed 'hoop' and was slimed, meaning that Alice won.

In the Diary Room, Alice chose to take Nobbi with her to the Strategy Room because he's a friend and should enjoy a dinner in the house for once (dinner in the Strategy Room is what Alice won with her win in FNL). There, they were able to discuss the fact that at the time the bottom three in the voting was Bianca, Terri and David. Although it wasn't promoted much it's a double eviction tonight and I'm worried that my favourite HM, Bianca will get the boot along with probably Terri. And that was another really boring week of BB.

A few minor news points from last night's shows.

May 20th, 2008 at 02:35am, EST, by Ridge Rogue

The task this week is a dancing one, where couples have been paired up according to (in some cases) the people that they'd be attracted to (surprise, surprise). They have to learn the dances to perform later in the week and of course a certain famous judge will be there to critique them. And apparently the Rogue Traders will have something to do with it also (so Pete Timbs says in TV Week).

While I'm on the subject of TV Week, the editor has suggested that she is struggling with this series. There are so many people who haven't been able to get used to some of the new changes. I'm one of them. The second house seems to be a stupid idea in some ways (although I still want to see more of it). The next time they use it, Pete Timbs says that it will be more like a war zone. But we hardly ever see it for the four days that a small group of HMs do get to stay there. By the end of the series, when there's hardly anyone left - except those intruders we exclusively revealed here 7 weeks ago are coming in the second half of BB8 - the second house will have been a scratch your head wondering wtf that was all about situation.

Anyway, Big Mouth, for those that missed it, was totally lame last night. There was a comedian guy (completely forget his name, he's a nobody) who was bagging the ex-HMs for being C-grade celebs, and Nathan (BB 2) was Paul Dyer's replacement this week. The whole show revolved around sex talk because that's all they could come up with, and there was a mention of Corey and friends allegedy trashing his hotel room on Sunday night. Very little of the show was even remotely serious this time. Oh well, at least we've got Carson as the only highlight on any BB show this week.

Rebecca votes herself out!

May 19th, 2008 at 12:12am, EST, by Ridge Rogue

Daily show

On the daily show tonight, viewers saw a bit of crying from Terri (about peoples's negative opinions of her sometimes), some bitching about Bianca and then Rebecca's birthday party. This quickly degenerated into a fight over nothing. After that there was much speculation about who likes whom, and Dixie declared that Brigitte is plain stupid (it took her three weeks for that to finally sink in). By the way, they failed the weekly task.

Eviction

Travis's Mum was first up on the eviction show. This came about as a result of Kyle's comments on the radio last week about Travis possibly being gay. They kissed and made up and that was that. Rather pointless really. After this, BB announced that Ben, Rory and Travis were in the bottom three. Soon, Rebecca had a chance to save someone and she chose Travis because she is close to him and friends with him. Rebecca then dropped into the bottom three.

The boring process of voting began, starting with David and then Brigitte, who both voted for Ben with two points. Terri did the same but Nobbi gave a point to Ben and two to Rebecca. Bianca voted for Rebecca with two points but used the excuse that Rebecca doesn't want to be there but is just there to get a Zoo contract (as if Bianca doesn't think she won't either).

During the voting, Corey was invited to the stage for a chat. Half the audience booed him. His chat to the hosts was brief and it was soon back to the voting. Dixie was wearing the nurse's outfit she said she brought in with her earlier in the series. The voting ended and just when you thought Ben would go but Rebecca was also a hot favourite to get the boot, it was actually Rebecca in the end.

The announcement of the evictee changed this week. The three nominees stood near the revolving door and Kyle told Rory he was safe. Then they went to a pesky ad break. After the ad, Jackie said that next HM to be evicted from the house is Rebecca. It's a shame that they got rid of the better looking one but isn't it always the way. So the format followed a similar one from previous years with BB telling her to leave. The stupid revolving door wasn't used and Rebecca turned up on stage just seconds later in the ampitheatre. This was a much better way of going about it.

It was then revealed that Rebecca gave the 4 points she won on FNL to herself because she wanted to leave. This has never been allowed before. Her two points went to Ben because she wasn't as close to him. Her vote will be controversial. So the hosts had a quick chat to the HMs inside the house and that was the show. This week we only have a big hand grenade to look forward to (from Rebecca), as the hosts tried to make it look like (really big) - but it was just Rebecca making Dixie the cleaning lady (pick on an Aboriginal for that, as usual). And also Carson's back again. Not much is it?

Continues back to week 3 diary page.
